First and foremost, every one of our team members are humble students of the craft, passionate about learning from and sharing with others. Our goal is to have a diverse team of high-operators with unique skill sets that compliment each other. Having a variety of backgrounds will allow us to provide the best possible solutions for your organization.
Jason Huizenga
Jason is a Captain in Snohomish County (WA) and has been teaching Engine and Ladder operations inside and outside of his agency for much of his career. He co-founded Fire Training Unlimited in 2012 as a way to give back to the fire service community.
Jay Bonnifield
Jay is a Captain in Everett (WA) assigned to an engine company. He has been involved with teaching engine company operations and fire behavior for the last several years with the Snohomish County Fire Training Academy and also teaches with Brothers in Battle and West Coast Fire Training. Jay is a husband to an incredible wife and a father to 3 awesome kids.
Derek Roberts
Derek is a Captain in Snohomish County (WA), but is a nozzleman at heart. He is extremely involved with the Engine Operations and Fire Research Technical Advisory Groups for his department, and also a lead engine operations and live fire instructor for the Snohomish County Fire Training Academy.
Dennis LeGear
Dennis is the owner of LeGear Engineering F.D. Consulting and a retired Captain from Oakland FD. He is the developer of the 1 3/16" smoothbore nozzle and TruSpec hose and has served on multiple UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute technical panels. Through LEFDC, he has provided technical advice, direct training, and consulting to fire departments around the country primarily focused on water supply and fire attack
Todd Wigal
Todd is a Battalion Chief in Snohomish County (WA) and has been deeply involved in training for much of his fire service career. He has a significant role in the Engine, Ladder, and Midrise/Highrise Technical Advisory Groups at his department. He co-founded a regional fire training group, Fire Training Unlimited, in 2012 as a way to share his passion for quality training with others.
